These Terms and Conditions apply to all participants on the Program. By paying the Application Fee and the Program Fees you are entering into the Agreement.
We have tried to make this Agreement easier to read and understand by adding headings to the various sections. These headings have been inserted for convenience only and do not affect the legal construction or interpretation of this Agreement.
Definitions Within this Agreement;
“you” or “your” means the participant who applies for a Program through us.
“we”, “us”, “our” and “Stint Ireland” means Stint Ireland Internships Limited, trading as Stint Ireland.
Agreement means the contractually binding agreement made between us and you that is made up of the application form and the terms and conditions set out in this document.
Program Date means the date, agreed upon with you in advance, that the Program begins.
Application Fee means the part of the Program Fee that must be paid by you in order to secure your place on the Program, payable in accordance with clause 3 below.
Participant means a participant on the Program and Participants means all and any Participant.
Program means any internship offered by Stint Ireland.
Host Organisation, the Organisation or Internship Provider means the specific organisation or establishment where you do your internship and includes the directors, managers, representatives, faculty, and all other people within their control at the Organisation.
Preference Area means your first and second choice of career field, as established in the Phone/Skype interview in our admissions process.
Program Fee Part 1 means the sum of the Application Fee and the remaining balance, payable by you to us in accordance with Section 3 below.
Program Fee Part 2 means the rental payment and refundable housing deposit that must be made by you for your room in Stint housing.
Emergency Contacts means the person(s) whose details you have provided to us to contact in accordance with Section 9 below.
1. Our Undertakings
In return for receipt of the Application Fee and Program Fees, we will undertake the following:
(a) to set up an interview / interviews with internship providers deemed by us to be a suitable match for you based on your experience, paperwork, timeframe, and interests.
(b) to provide medical and travel insurance.
(c) to provide furnished accommodation that meets the following minimum standards:
- a shared or single bedroom;
- with a bed in your bedroom;
- with a wardrobe in your bedroom;
- with facilities for cooking and for the hygienic storage of food;
- with adequate bathroom, toilet and shower facilities;
- with bed sheets;
- with rubbish bins, internet, gas, electricity and water, for which we will cover the payment of bills;
- for the duration of your internship program. If you wish to stay in the accommodation for a longer period, before or after your internship program, we can attempt to arrange this for you. However, we cannot guarantee any accommodation outside of the period of your internship program, and the cost of any such accommodation is entirely your responsibility.
(d) to provide you with a transfer, at a time agreed between us, from the closest international airport to your accommodation on your arrival, prior to your commencement on the Program. An airport transfer on departure is not included.
(e) to provide contact details of local staff in case of any difficulties or problems experienced and to facilitate emergency support if necessary;
(f) to provide an orientation upon your arrival.
(g) to provide an orientation pack upon arrival which will include a local Irish sim card and a Leap card for use on public transport. You will be responsible for covering the cost of use for both.
For the avoidance of doubt, we will only be responsible for and are only bound to provide the services and matters set out in Section 1 above.
2. Suitability of Participants
We retain all rights to reject the application of any person we deem unsuitable for our Program, at our own discretion.
3. Application Fee and Program Fee
(a) Your Application Fee is 246 Euros (abbreviated as EUR or €). The application fee is non-refundable. The application fee is deducted from the Program Fee Payment Part 1 once an internship position has been confirmed.
(b) Upon payment of your Application Fee you agree to fully co-operate with Stint Ireland in its attempts to find you an internship. Examples of non-cooperation include, but are not limited to:
- Not actively working with your assigned representatives from Stint Ireland;
- Skipping or missing scheduled internship interviews;
- Not engaging in internship discussions with your Internship Coordinator;
- Not responding to Stint Ireland’s communications in a timely manner (within 5 to 7 days);
- Allowing the placement process to be delayed due to missing agreed payment
due dates - Unreasonably refusing internships offered to you.
- Dishonesty. This includes fabricating, altering, or misrepresenting academic transcripts, test scores, academic standing, statements made on visa applications, or any other written or oral statement you may make in the process of applying for the Program, for a visa, or for any internship role.
Participants who are deemed uncooperative will be notified by Stint Ireland, and may be dropped from the program with no refund given.
(c) The Program Fee Payment Part 1 is due within 21 days after we have confirmed your internship role. The fee must be paid before you travel to Dublin. Participants who fail to meet this requirement, will receive none of the benefits of the Program. This includes, without limitation; placement in a confirmed Program, airport transfers and accommodation.
(d) The Program Fee Part 2 payment is due at least 30 days prior to arrival. Due to a limited number of single rooms and the flexible nature of our housing model we are not always able to accommodate single room preferences. If in the instance you pay for a single room and one is not available we will notify you and refund the difference. You will then have the option to move to a single room if/when one becomes available.
(e) You are responsible for covering all and any charges imposed by financial institutions, including PayPal fees, foreign transaction fees, and wire transfer fees. This applies to your Application Fee, Program Fee and any other transfer to us. If you underpay your Application Fee due to such charges, you will make up the balance when you pay the Program Fee.
(f) Some participants may be eligible for a discounted program fee – for example, students enrolled in a university with whom Stint Ireland has a formal relationship. Only one discount may be applied per person.
4. Request to Cancel, Vary Participation on the Program and Refunds
(a) If you wish to withdraw from the program at any time, then this must be done via a written request. For the avoidance of doubt, such a written request can be made by email.
(b) The Application Fee and the Program Fee Part 1 are not refundable if you withdraw from the Program. This includes withdrawal for medical, personal, family, academic, financial, and all other reasons.
(c) The Program Fee Part 2 payment is due at least 30 days prior to arrival. Should you need to cancel your accommodation, payments made can be refunded provided that notice is given in writing at least 28 days prior to move in date.
(d) Program dates are selected when you pay the application fee. Any change to the start or end date of your participation in the Program needs to be approved by Stint Ireland and your host organisation. The request to change must be put in writing to Stint and we reserve the right to refuse such change. You may request to change your dates of participation only once within the 12 months after the date that you submit your application fee. Thereafter you relinquish your participation on the program and understand that your application fee will not be refunded and would need to paid again in order to participate on our program at a future date.
(e) In the event that, for any reason at all, you decide to discontinue your place on the Program after it has started but before it is due to end, no refund of any fees paid will be given.
(f) If, for whatever reason, we have to cancel your participation in the Program, prior to your commencement date, a full refund of the Program Fee Part 1 will be given to you. A full refund will be issued only if the cancellation is for reasons which are in no way whatsoever attributable to you. No compensation can be given for any other costs incurred in relation to the Program.
(g) We do not withhold any processing fee or service charge from refunds. However, the refund amount you receive may be less than you expected, due to fees or charges imposed by your bank or by other intermediary financial institutions. We have no control over this and cannot cover or reimburse these fees.
5. Website and Promotional Material
(a) The content and information displayed on our website and other promotional material is believed to be valid and correct but we will not be held liable and do not take responsibility for any misinformation or ambiguities in the content. Prices are subject to change without notice and you will be liable for additional amounts owed due to price changes unless your application fee has already been submitted.
(b) We reserve the right to take your photograph, or video footage of you, for use in our promotional material. We do not make any payments to individuals in respect of such use. We may (but are not obliged to) reproduce the photographs (or part of them) in our promotional material and alter and composite the same without restriction and without your inspection or approval including, without limitation, posters, advertisements, printed publications, on our website and social media website pages. Copyright in the photographs will belong to Stint Ireland. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you consent for your photographic data to be used for our promotional purposes.
6. The Format of the Program
We reserve the right to change our suppliers and the format of our Program as and when necessary, however we will endeavor to provide as similar a program as possible at all times.
7. Housing
(a) The housing terms are outlined in the Tenancy Agreement.
(b) The housing is occupied by Stint program participants.
(c) From time to time there will be tenants at the housing who are not enrolled on the Stint Ireland program. These tenants have been vetted by Stint Ireland and are also bound by the terms outlined in the Tenancy Agreement.
8. Liability for Losses and Program Changes
We cannot accept any responsibility or liability for Program changes or Program cancellations under any of the following circumstances; war or threat of war; terrorism or threat of terrorism; fire; sickness; environmental or climate concerns; acts of government or local authority; or, any other event or circumstance which amounts to a “force majeure” and in such cases no refund or compensation for any loss will be given to you unless otherwise decided at our sole discretion.
9. Your Responsibility
(a) It is your responsibility to be aware of any national holidays or other events that may change the nature of the Program. While most companies operate a 9-5 working policy, some may have different requirements and we cannot be held responsible for this.
(b) International flights are not included in the cost of any of our Programs. It is your sole responsibility to arrange flights and to select providers based on your own decisions and experiences. We cannot be held responsible for any action, negligence or event relating to the purchase or operation of flight tickets or flights. We will also not be responsible for any costs or refunds due to changes or delays in flights.
(c) It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a full and valid passport which is acceptable to the immigration authorities of Ireland which will be valid for a period of at least 6 months after your Program.
10. Emergency contacts
Stint Ireland reserves the right to contact your Emergency Contacts in cases of, but not limited to, medical emergency (as defined by us), or in the event that you quit or terminate your participation on the program.
11. Internship Placement
This is a professional internship program and you must work in line with professional standards.
(a) You are accepting your internship based on your interview with the host organisation and the information provided by the host organisation for the outlined duration. The changeable nature of the working environment may mean that projects and your responsibilities in your internship change. In a professional setting, responsibilities are earned based on work performance and attitude. Being flexible and proactive, and having a positive attitude will be key to a successful internship. If you decide to quit your internship, you will also be terminating your position on the Stint Ireland program and Stint is under no obligation to find you an alternative internship.
(b) You must inform Stint and your supervisor by e-mail of any absences due to illness. If the number of days absent due to illness exceeds 2 consecutive days, a doctor’s note must be provided to your supervisor and to Stint by e-mail. Repeated absences may result in dismissal from your internship and the Stint program.
(c) The number of days off that you are permitted to take will be communicated to you prior to starting your internship. Request for time off must be made at a minimum of 5 days in advance and must be outlined in an e-mail to your supervisor and Stint.
(d) Once on the program, if Stint has concerns relating to your health and wellbeing, if necessary, Stint reserves the right to contact your university, housemates, Host Organisation and Emergency Contacts.
(e) If the assigned internship provider wishes to terminate your placement prior to the end of the stated time for any reason (for example as a result of your inadequate or unhelpful participation or prolonged or repeated absence from work), you understand that no refund of fees will be given in this situation and we are under no obligation to provide another placement. In such a case, you will be required to leave the provided accommodation within two days of being informed by us.
(f) In extenuating circumstances, Stint will determine on a case by case if an alternative internship needs to be arranged. Examples of extenuating circumstances would be bullying, harassment, threat to safety.
(g) If you wish to terminate your placement prior to the end of the time stated in the contract for any reason you must provide us with written notice, clearly stating the reasons for such a decision. You agree that no refund of the Program Fee or any other fees will be made in this situation, that no other placement will be offered and that you will be required to leave the provided accommodation within two days of being informed by us.
(h) If you are removed / terminate your participation on the Stint program, Stint Ireland reserves the right to inform your university, housemates, Host Organisation and Emergency Contacts of your departure from the program.
(i) If you are removed / terminate your participation on the Stint program you will no long be permitted within Stint housing, to attend Stint events or to be a member of the Stint Ireland Facebook group. You will not be permitted to list the Stint program or your internship on your resume or list any related contacts as references.
(j) Stint Ireland cannot be held responsible for any complaints arising from issues outside of the specifications made in Section (1)(c), this includes, without limitation, relations with other inhabitants of the house, relations with your neighbors, and relations with other colleagues or managers in your place of internship.
12. Safety
(a) We, our affiliate agencies, suppliers and members of staff cannot be held responsible for any case of injury, accident, claim, theft, damage, sickness, cancellation or loss, in relation to our/their services.
(b) You are responsible for your own safety during the trip and neither we, nor the assigned internship provider, take responsibility nor can be held liable for any accident, sickness, loss, damage, expense or hazard encountered throughout the Program.
(c) You will be held responsible and liable for any damages to the assigned internship provider during your placement. It is your sole responsibility to ensure you purchase personal liability insurance prior to the Commencement Date if instructed to do so by Stint Ireland.
13. Complying with Rules, Local Laws and Acting Responsibly
(a) If you do not comply with the rules of the internship provider, the rules of our Program, or the laws of the destination to which you go, then we may release you from the Program. In these cases, no refund will be given and you will be required to leave the provided accommodation within two days of being informed by us. This includes cases in which the internship provider asks you to leave your role due to underperformance or misconduct.
(b) You will take full responsibility for your conduct at all times during the Program. You will not act irresponsibly nor will you break the law of the country to which you go. You will not put yourself or others in dangerous situations. If you do any of the above you will be responsible for the consequences.
(c) We reserve the right to expel, at our sole discretion, any Participant from the Program for reasons including but not limited to:
breaking the law;
abusing drugs and / or alcohol;
bullying or harassment of other Participants;
anti-social or unreasonable behavior or unfit conduct towards other group members, our representatives, our suppliers’/affiliate agencies’ representatives or the assigned internship provider or excessive absence from work.
Whether a Participant has acted in any of the ways set out above will be determined by us in our sole discretion. In such instances, we retain the right to immediately remove the Participant from his or her accommodation and cancel their participation in the Program, with no refund issued of any fees paid.
14. Termination of Agreement
We have the unilateral right to terminate, without prior warning, this Agreement by written notice (by e-mail) if:
- you have violated any of the Conditions of this Agreement, or
- we have not received payments by stated deadlines; or
- you have acted in a way to damage our reputation; or
- the Organization, and us, finds that you are not fulfilling your obligations; or
- your behavior in our reasonable opinion, or that of the Organization is considered to be causing danger, distress or significant difficulties for anyone at the Organization, or us, or fellow program participants; or
- you have continually refused to carry out the reasonable requests given by the Organization, or us; or
- you abandon your placement by failing to give the Organization sufficient notice; or
- it is discovered that you have made a false statement or omitted a material fact in any correspondence with us, or have acted in such a way that your actions are likely to bring us, or the Organization into disrepute or to otherwise cause any other significant difficulties; or
- it is found that you are consuming illegal substances or are found to be convicted of any criminal offence during the period of your Program, or are discovered to have been convicted of any offence prior to starting your Program which you have not notified us of.
In the event of Termination of the Agreement:
- you will be required to leave your Organization immediately; and
- if you are staying in accommodation supplied by us, you will be required to leave your accommodation immediately. In this case, you will not receive any refunds, including your housing deposit and any rent paid.
- We accept no responsibility for any costs, expenses or losses suffered as a result of Unilateral Termination. You will not receive a refund of any payments you have made or receive any other compensation.
- We accept no responsibility for any costs, expenses or losses suffered as a result of termination by you for personal reasons once you have started your Program. You will not receive a refund of any payments you have made or receive any other compensation.
15. Third Party Behavior or Actions
(a) We take no responsibility and are not liable for any accidents that take place at any third party locations including but not limited to the premises of the host internship provider and the designated accommodation.
(b) We reserve the right to make charges for any missing or damaged items or for any additional cleaning or repair charges to accommodation that may be incurred during the Program. You agree to pay these charges in full to us within 14 days of payment being requested.
16. Guests Prohibited
You are not allowed to have guests to stay in Stint Ireland accommodation. For violating this rule the housing deposit will be retained in full. If this rule is violated again you may be required to leave the Stint housing within 2 days of being informed by e-mail by Stint Ireland.
17. Insurance
(a) You will be provided with travel and medical insurance for the duration of your stay. The insurance is provided by International Volunteer Card. Your insurance card will be sent to you through e-mail once your Program Fee Part 1 payment has been received. You are responsible for ensuring that you have activated your insurance card.
(b)It is your responsibility to check the coverage provided and to ensure that it is adequate and appropriate for your particular needs. If it is not in any respect you are responsible for arranging and paying for suitable additional insurance.
(c) Depending on your internship site, you may be required to take out additional insurance to cover you while at your internship. You will be advised about this should the need be required by Stint Ireland. You are responsible for any additional insurance costs. If you have any doubts or questions about your insurance, please contact us.
(d) You must bring all relevant insurance documents with you to Ireland.
18. Housing Security Deposits
A housing security deposit of €200 will be required. This will be included in the rental payment prior to arrival and will be fully reimbursed to you at the end of the program assuming there are no damages to your room or you have not violated the terms outlined in the Tenancy Agreement.
19. Non-Disclosure Agreements
In instances where the assigned internship provider demands it, you agree to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement with the assigned internship provider. Regardless of whether or not the assigned internship provider requires a written Non Disclosure Agreement, you agree to respect and keep confidential the intellectual property of the assigned internship provider.
20. Personal Information
In order to facilitate your Program, it may be necessary from time to time for us to release or transfer your personal information, including, but not limited to, medical information, background check information and details of any convictions. Under the terms of this Agreement you grant us permission to release or transfer your personal information to those involved with your placement for our Programs.
21. Workload
We are not responsible for the workload provided by the internship provider whether it is of a high intensity or low intensity. In such situations, you should discuss the problem with us and we will endeavor to resolve the issue accordingly.
22. Physical and Mental Health
You represent and warrant that you are in sufficient physical and mental health to participate in the Program and do not have any physical or mental conditions that could affect your ability to participate in the Program. If however you become ill during your time with Stint, we will have the right, but not the duty to take reasonable action where necessary to secure the necessary healthcare for you. In such event you are responsible for payment of all expenses incurred and must reimburse Stint if Stint makes payments on your behalf. If Stint incurs any expense on behalf of you that is not covered by your insurance, you agree to make immediate repayment. You hereby acknowledge and agree that this Agreement does not create any affirmative duty or responsibility for Stint to take any action should you become sick or injured while participating on the Program.
23. Notifications You Must Make
You must inform Stint Ireland of anything that might affect your ability to participate fully on the program before submitting an application fee. This includes but is not limited to physical limitations, mental illness, infectious disease, criminal record, cultural or religious observances. Having understood your needs Stint Ireland can then advise on whether your participation will be viable. Stint Ireland reserves the right of admission to the program.
Once on the program, if Stint has concerns relating to your health and wellbeing, Stint reserves the right to contact your university, housemates, Host Organisation and Emergency Contacts.
24. Maximum Liability
Our maximum liability is limited to the Program Fee Part 1.
25. Refer-a-Friend Reward Plan
(a) If you refer a friend to Stint, you will receive a $50 USD Amazon Gift Card, subject to the further terms given below.
(b) You may refer your friend to any Program offered by Stint.
(c) Your friend must mention your name as their referral during the admissions process. This can include on their application form or by e-mail to a member of Stint staff. If your friend mentions the referral after the admissions process has been completed, and they are already confirmed as a participant, the Program Director will decide if they are still eligible for the discount.
(d) Your friend will receive a $50 discount on their program fee part 1 payment. The discount applies only to the total program fee payment part 1. The discount does not reduce the amount required for the application fee.
(e) Only one discount on the program fee may be applied per person.
(f) Your voucher will be granted only when your friend confirms their full participation on their Program by paying the program fee part 1.
(g) You can refer a friend anytime after you have finished your Program.
26. Alumni discount
If you are alumni of our internship program you are eligible for an Alumni Discount. This discount is €250 from the program fee balance of any of the programs that we offer.
on with it or its subject matter or formation (including no contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of the Republic of Ireland.
(f) Each party irrevocably agrees that the court of the Republic of Ireland shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with the Agreement or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims).
(g) We reserve the right to amend this document from time to time.
27. Other Terms
(a) A person who is not a party to the Agreement shall not have any rights under or in connection with it.
(b) The rights of the parties to terminate, rescind or agree any variation, waiver or settlement under the Agreement is not subject to the consent of any person that is not a party to this agreement.
(c) If any provision of the Agreement (or part of any provision) is found by any court or other authority of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision or part-provision shall, to the extent required, be deemed not to form part of the Agreement, and the validity and enforceability of the other provisions of the Agreement shall not be affected.
(d) If a provision of the Agreement (or any part of any provision) is found illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the provision shall apply with the minimum modification necessary to make it legal, valid and enforceable or the parties shall negotiate in good faith to amend such provision such that, as amended, it is legal, valid and enforceable, and, to the greatest extent possible, achieves the parties’ original commercial intention.
(e) The Agreement and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter or formation (including no contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of the Republic of Ireland.
(f) Each party irrevocably agrees that the court of the Republic of Ireland shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with the Agreement or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims).
(g) We reserve the right to amend this document from time to time.
28. Waiver and Release
For the purposes of this Agreement, the term “Released Parties” means and refers individually and collectively to the Organisation, us, our members, our employees, and our representatives.
You hereby indemnify the Released Parties against any and all liability, loss, costs or damages (including consequential damages and pure economic loss) that may be incurred by the Released Parties as a result of claims or charges made against the Released Parties, whether at the instance of a third party or yourself, related to any injury, illness, loss, damage, harm or death of a third party or yourself may suffer arising out of your participation on the Program.
